Investment potential – Jaguar XJS at Historics

Often times people are caught up in the romanticism of an appreciating asset or thinking about that dream car that might actually increase in value. A distant notion of ‘this might be worth something someday’ seen from behind wistful eyes.

Historics at Brooklands have coming up for sale something that looks sure to hold it’s value, if not increase if current trends are anything to go by. A cash cow this XJS is not, but from the trends in UK auction data one could feel rather encouraged. Take a look at the data below, and then let’s take a look at the car in question.

1992 Jaguar XJS Coupé

The four litre model, to be precise, is coming up for sale this weekend with Historics at Brooklands. The car is expected to sell for between £10,000 – £14,000 and has 62,385 miles on the odometer. This particular model is one of the post facelift cars with the newer engine, and a similar specced car in ‘good’ condition sold for £8,800 with CCA over a year ago so the current estimate looks realistic given the heightened interest in this model recently.

From the data above and previous sales the XJS looks set to enjoy some appreciation, and whispers of it being the next E-Type aren’t the most absurd – although £150,000 for a good XJS seems a stretch right now.

Take a look at the data, understand the current market and maybe you’re staring down the barrel of something quite exciting. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
