Sneak peek – the Mercedes of Coys

Coys of Kensington’s upcoming auction at Fontwell house already looks set to be a cracking auction, we’ve already spoken about the special editions coming up for sale that get our hearts racing. Aside from the high end, bespoke and rare exotica is a range of cars that will drive the enthusiast wild as well as the collector.

Being fans of all things classic and interesting we thought we’d collate some of the others coming up for sale – more specifically those with the three pointed star on the bonnet. There are some pretty special Mercedes coming up for sale so let’s take a more in depth look.

1987 MERCEDES 190E 2.3-16 COSWORTH

Starting off with a fan favourite and, although ‘only’ an evocation, a car that looks like it means some serious business. Older DTM and BTCC cars capture the imagination like little else and rank highly on the want list of many a petrolhead. This Klaus Ludwig DTM evocation is built on a 190E 2.3L Bosworth model so not only looks the part but is manageable on the street; the car was converted to this spec at a cost of £25,000, consider this a bargain as it is expected to fetch between £19,000 – £25,000 on Thursday. 2004 Mercedes McLaren SLR

A real legend of the noughties with a soundtrack to match, the SLR was the brawny brainchild of Mercedes Benz and McLaren back in the early 2000’s. During 2004 only 45 SLRs were made, making this Merc a particularly rare one. Recently values of the SLR have been stable compared to the Carrera GT or Ferrari Enzo that were launched at the time, making the estimate for this 1960 km car a fair pitch at between £200,000 – £250,000. read more about this silver arrow by clicking HERE.

2005 AMG Mercedes C55

By modern AMG standards this is quite a restrained looking package, while back in 2005 it was anything but. As a departure from the 3.2L V6 cars from the time the C55 was an absolute powerhouse and not to be messed with, and aimed squarely at the E46 M3. This particular example has had two owners from new and has a full Mercedes service history from new, with under 60,000 miles. Any Mercedes enthusiast would consider this the run in period.

1958 Mercedes 190SL

A classic through and through, and iconic only begins to describe this car and its timeless appeal. This 190SL in Silver with red interior and rare black hood is surely worthy of your attention. Restored to ‘excellent’ condition at a cost of £41,000 this 190SL is one of the best we’ve seen to date, this is one of the best opportunities to purchase one of the best 190’s in the country. Estimated to sell for between £80,000 – £100,000 this supports the rising price trends for this classic Mercedes. Read more HERE.
