After a restrained start to 2017 the classic car auction scene is finally getting underway, with spring very much in full swing the auction houses are filling up with rare and interesting classics. Coming up this weekend is the May sale with Silverstone Auctions which promises to be one of the best yet this year.

There is a massive variety in classic machinery for sale at the weekend, so let’s not waste any time and take a look at some of the most interesting lots from the sale!

Aston Martin DB6

You wait for one DB6 to show up and then two come along at once, and on top of that another is coming up next week at the Historics at Ascott auction, but more on that one next week. What we’re staring down the barrel of today is possibly one of the best kept and best specced Aston Martin DB6s in existence, finished in Dubonnet Red and with a tan interior this Aston really does look the business.

The factory only produced 34 Mk2 DB6 Saloons to a Vantage specification and this one was completed with a manual 5 speed gearbox – the ultimate incarnation. This car was also owned by driver and TV personality John Cleland and has just over 36,000 miles on the odometer. As you can imagine this nigh on perfect car does not come cheap, estimates are between £325,000 – £375,000 but it’s hard to say this car is not worth every penny.

1992 Alpina (E34) B10 Bi-Turbo

We’re lucky to have been seeing a lot of interesting and exciting BMWs coming up for sale in the last year, and if there’s one that successfully has us all hot and bothered it’s this B10 Bi-Turbo. Finished in the very stealthy and desirable colour combination of Granite Silver with black leather, this B10 Bi-Turbo is presented in superb condition and has covered a conservative 55,046 miles since its birth in ’92.

As this is the Alpina car it has the benefit of bigger brakes, new springs, anti-roll bars, Bilstein shocks at the front and automatic load-leveling Fictel & Sachs at the rear. There is no evidence to suggest anything less than that this is one serious car. Silverstone think this is one of the best kept models they’ve ever seen, if you want to take a closer look you can do so HERE.
